10TH ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL

We chatted with Vanessa López, Director of Corporate Volunteering at Endesa.

Vanessa Lopez Endesa

Corporate Volunteering at ENDESA

Endesa’s Corporate Volunteering is part of the Endesa Foundation’s social activity. Its main objective is to articulate the company’s social commitment through its employees. In this way, we broaden their vision of the company’s values and the environment surrounding the company’s activities, increase their level of satisfaction and involvement and their pride of belonging, generating a positive social and reputational impact.

Endesa’s Corporate Volunteering Department works on two strategic axes: the fight against climate change and the reduction of social inequality.

If we look at these objectives and actions in numbers, in just two years we have managed to go from 500 volunteers and 11,000 beneficiaries in 2021 to tripling the number of volunteers participating (1,500) and impacting nearly 22,000 beneficiaries in 2023.

Throughout these years, we have carried out several projects with a great positive impact on society and its environment, but I would like to highlight two of them:

  • On the one hand, Social Entrepreneurship, which is an opportunity for Endesa employees and volunteers to present their own projects and act as leaders of their volunteer initiatives, promoting the participation of their colleagues. We have launched 3 editions, in which 30 proposals were registered and 23 were selected, involving 674 volunteers and reaching 12,342 beneficiaries.
  • And, on the other hand, the programs that are part of the Christmas campaign aimed at accompanying children and young people at risk of social exclusion. In the 5 programs launched in the last two campaigns 2021 and 2022, we have managed to reach 2,319 beneficiaries thanks to the participation of 693 volunteers.

Hands On Connect: A key tool for impact measurement

Since we started building the new Endesa Corporate Volunteering strategy, we were very clear about the importance of measuring the social and environmental impact of our projects and actions.

That is why we considered it essential to provide all projects with an analytical tool implemented on the corporate volunteering website, which allows us to manage and measure the most relevant indicators of corporate volunteering.

  • From the number of activities we launch and their type (social or environmental)
  • To the number of volunteers participating in them.
  • The number of volunteers who participate
  • The hours they dedicate
  • The different groups impacted and their locations
  • The entities with which we collaborate
  • The number of beneficiaries
  • The degree of satisfaction with the activities
  • The pride of belonging generated by participation, etc.

We currently have more than 1,500 active volunteers who registered on the Corporate Volunteering website, launched in September 2021. And who have an average satisfaction level of 9.2 out of 10. A great success!

Volies: our reliable partner

When we started the adventure of giving a new impetus to Endesa’s Corporate Volunteering, we saw the need to rely on other entities that had the necessary experience and knowledge to accompany us throughout the implementation process.

In this sense, we were knowing different entities of the third sector that were dedicated to advising on corporate volunteering, and Volies was the one that inspired us the necessary confidence, for their knowledge, experience and expertise.

Therefore, Volies has been and is our trusted partner to create and develop various projects and corporate volunteering actions in Endesa.

Experience, track record and vision: Volies' differentiating values

The experience, trajectory and knowledge of Volies has contributed to achieve this success and to consolidate Corporate Volunteering in Endesa, accompanying us throughout the process.

  • It also gives us an innovative vision to the management team, who work every day to evolve the activity we carry out.
  • In addition, Volies helps us to create networking with other entities and foundations that pursue the same purpose as us.

We hope to continue counting on the support of Volies to continue generating a positive impact on people and the environment, innovating alongside them and joining forces to make this world a better place for everyone, where coexistence is one of the keys to progress.
