KPMG in Spain has celebrated its ‘Volunteering Week’, a challenging project promoted by the KPMG Foundation as part of its corporate volunteering plan, which it deploys every three years as part of its strategy to contribute to a more prosperous, inclusive and sustainable society.

With Volies as a trusted partner for this project, it has mobilized more than 28 entities throughout the territory and more than 1,000 professional volunteers.

Aligned with KPMG’s sustainability strategy, and its impact plan, the main objective has been to provide all professionals with the opportunity to participate in corporate volunteering activities that allow them to contribute with their skills, knowledge and experience to overcome the common challenges of our environment, the contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals and the support to the 2030 agenda.

The volunteering week pursues a dual purpose:

  • To support vulnerable communities, give visibility to social projects and contribute to creating a more sustainable world.
  • It also contributes to the professional and personal development of employees and raises awareness of diversity and inclusion.

This year’s outstanding initiatives included work to improve biodiversity in natural spaces, the organization of professional training workshops for young people, or the accompaniment and support for the elderly and people at risk, among other activities, with organizations that are experts in these issues and interest groups, such as Fundación Prodis, Fundación A la Par, Biolivo, YMPCA, Banco de Alimentos & Mensajeros de la Paz, and many others.

“With their time and talent, volunteers are not only contributing to creating a better society, at the same time they are driving our purpose as a company. Sustainability, in addition to being a key strategic element, is the engine that drives us forward, working to have a real and lasting impact.”

The collaboration of non-governmental organizations and local entities has made it possible to increase the scope of the projects and expand the number of beneficiaries in each activity.

The participating professionals, from managers to new staff members, have had the opportunity during this week to work side by side, strengthening values such as solidarity and teamwork and developing new skills.
