There are days when volunteering transforms spaces. And there are days when it transforms the way we see those spaces.
Nearly 300 people volunteers from AbbVie España participated in a large volunteering day at the Fundación Betesda centres in Madrid, homes where people with intellectual disabilities live and require specific support in their daily lives.
During the day they collaborated in:
- the improvement of gardens
- the renovation of common areas
- the creation of murals
- the assembly of furniture
- the design of inclusive materials
- and the refurbishment of communal areas
But the aim went far beyond the physical improvement of the spaces.
- Because a wall is not the same as a mural.
- A terrace is not the same as a garden full of life.
- And a house is not the same as a home.
Behind every action there is a person who will enjoy a more accessible, more welcoming, and homely environment thanks to the shared effort of hundreds of committed individuals.
Thank you to AbbVie España for once again demonstrating that corporate volunteering can be a powerful tool to connect purpose, people, and social impact.
Thank you to Points of Light, the world’s largest volunteering network, for trusting Volies once again to lead this initiative in Spain with its partner AbbVie España. And to Fundación Betesda and Fundación FDI for joining forces to make it possible.
