On the occasion of the International Year of Volunteers for Sustainable Development, L’Oréal Groupe has launched a new edition of its Citizen Day focused on addressing urgent local needs.
Through a simultaneous intervention, the company concentrated its efforts on the ecological regeneration of natural areas damaged by fire in Tres Cantos and on inclusive workshops developed in collaboration with Fundación A La Par in Madrid.
A total of more than 700 employee volunteers from L’Oréal Groupe in Spain participated in these actions, designed to regenerate urban and natural environments while strengthening the social fabric. This integrated intervention was made possible thanks to an ecosystem of alliances between the private sector, public institutions, and the third sector.
This edition stood out for its strong institutional presence and its ability to generate a multiplier effect by carrying out multiple activities simultaneously in a single day.
This large-scale, coordinated mobilization enabled the parallel delivery of responses to several critical needs and supported various groups of people with disabilities and/or in vulnerable situations, reaching an estimated direct impact of more than 1,600 beneficiaries.
“Citizen Day is a tangible expression of our purpose: creating the beauty that moves the world. And we do so through concrete actions, connecting with people and placing our resources and heart at the service of a shared cause. Mobilizing more than 700 employees across 10 simultaneous high-impact actions consolidates this day as a true platform for social transformation, of which we are truly proud.”
Ana Jaureguizar, future CEO of L’Oréal Spain and Portugal
Restoration of the natural environment in Tres Cantos
Part of the volunteer team traveled to the natural surroundings of Tres Cantos to take part in an environmental restoration activity in areas affected by wildfires.
There, they worked in an inclusive team alongside students, individuals supported by Fundación Manantial, and other groups of people with disabilities to help restore the local ecosystem.
The actions enabled the improvement of 6,650 m² of natural space, the planting of 26 trees, the construction of 26 nesting boxes, and the installation of two insect hotels, ten dog shelters, and six picnic tables for the community.
Inclusion and solidarity workshops at Fundación A La Par
In parallel, the facilities of Fundación A La Par hosted a series of simultaneous inclusive workshops aimed at promoting employability and social inclusion.
During the day, activities included inclusive sports such as football, archery, and yoga; vocational workshops in carpentry, logistics, and printing; mentoring and CV review sessions with young people from Fundación Tomillo, and communication and empowerment sessions with women in collaboration with Fundación José María de Llanos.
Additionally, refurbishment work was carried out in a mental health center, including the creation of a collaborative mural to improve 150 m² of social spaces and restore part of the furniture.
Creative initiatives included the preparation of 350 hygiene and beauty kits for vulnerable families, the assembly of 38 educational robots with Asociación Creática, the building of 50 skateboards for children in foster care centers, and the printing of 500 solidarity t-shirts for summer camps with Soñar Despierto.
“This has been a very special day. At Fundación A LA PAR, we are delighted to share with so many volunteers our mission of supporting people with intellectual disabilities in achieving their dreams.”
Almudena Martorell, President of Fundación A LA PAR
This edition of Citizen Day was made possible thanks to strategic collaboration with social organizations such as Fundación A La Par, Fundación Tomillo, Asociación Creática, Soñar Despierto, Fundación FDI, Fundación José María de Llanos, and Volies, a B Corp specialized in corporate volunteering and social innovation, which has supported L’Oréal Groupe for the past five years in designing and developing social impact initiatives such as Citizen Day.
Social organizations have been the true protagonists of the process: their territorial knowledge, proximity to communities, and daily commitment to inclusion, education, and urban and environmental regeneration have been fundamental to the success of the initiative.
Their everyday work sustains the community fabric, and it is precisely this experience and rootedness that has enabled the design of interventions aligned with the real needs of the environment.
This new edition of Citizen Day in Spain embodies the company’s spirit of solidarity, dedicating the time and energy of its teams to local causes that promote inclusion, equal opportunities, and environmental improvement.
In this way, it reaffirms L’Oréal Groupe’s vision of beauty as a force that inspires cohesion, creates opportunities, and contributes to building a fairer and more sustainable future.
