Corporate Volunteering in Colombia
It is now almost a year since we started working with Bancolombia. A year full of projects, alliances, and positive impact in the country. A commitment that led us to open our first subsidiary in LATAM, headquarters of our projects for all of Latin America, and with a special impact and relationship with the Andean country.
Grupo Bancolombia’s Corporate Volunteering program has a great commitment with its ecosystems and the impact on the most vulnerable population in the country.
Among the different actions developed, Bancolombia has allocated this year 2024 the time and talent of the Bank’s employees in activities such as:
- Accompanying entrepreneurs.
- Environmental protection and conservation actions.
- Supporting programs such as the Alliance for Development with a focus on the integral development of a territory.
a territory. - Processes of regenerative agriculture and conservation planting.
- Accompaniment in financial education.
Conservation actions in Biosuroeste Agropark and Salamanca Island Park
Two of these environmental actions have been of special relevance and impact for the group. 183 volunteers participated with an investment of 2,470 hours.
In the Agroparque Biosuroeste, located in the southwestern region of Antioquia:
- 85 units of Colombian native and fruit trees distributed in 35 different varieties.
- 95 plants for attracting pollinators, including butterflies, hummingbirds, honeybees and honey bees.
- 100 cuttings and offshoots of edible plants such as yucca and pineapple.
- 900 vegetable seedlings for vegetable gardens.
- 15 kilos of tubers and roots for food sovereignty and income generation for the families, 5 of each: turmeric, sweet potato and yams.
- 3 enterprises generated sales in 1 hour for COP 1,606,000.
- Purchases from local suppliers in the region between the municipalities of Támesis and Valparaíso for COP 12,682,28
And in the Salamanca Island Park in Magdalena:
- 302 mangrove trees planted.
- 5 community organizations are part of the process of care and protection of the mangroves.
- 75 people between volunteers and community.
