Would you change any financial decision you’ve made in the past?
Most likely, yes. If we had learned about personal finance in school, our habits and behavior around money would probably be very different.
This reflection gave life to Impactamos, the corporate volunteering program led by Bancolombia and Fundación Bancolombia, designed to work along three strategic pillars: financial inclusion, sustainable cities and communities, and the strengthening of the country’s productive fabric.
What is Impactamos?
It is the corporate volunteering program of Bancolombia, Valores Bancolombia, Banca de Inversión Bancolombia and Fiduciaria Bancolombia.
What is its goal?
To mobilize the talent, skills, and time of employees to promote sustainable development and contribute to collective well-being.
How does it work?
Bancolombia employees can participate through two formats:
- En Acción (Action in the Field): Activities not necessarily linked to the volunteer’s specific area of expertise; usually one-time events, mostly in person.
- Saberes (Share Your Knowledge): Knowledge-transfer initiatives led by expert volunteers. These may be single sessions or multi-session activities, often virtual.
In this case, the activity focused on the axis of financial inclusion, why does this matter?
Because financial education does not only impact your wallet, it changes lives. It strengthens families and builds more resilient communities. When a company invests in programs like this, it creates well-being that goes beyond the office walls and becomes social development
These experiences:
- Strengthen corporate culture: leadership also happens outside the office when we take care of one another.
- Develop skills such as teamwork, empathy, and an active mindset.
- Generate social impact: safer communities, more dignified environments, and new opportunities for people.
As one participant expressed:
“The experience felt like a balance between individual purpose and the organization’s purpose — the ‘I’ became ‘we’.”
That is what we witnessed in Impactamos: people choosing to invest their time and talent to transform realities.
At Volies, we accompanied the strategic design of this initiative, ensuring each action aligned with the organization’s pillars: financial inclusion, sustainable cities and communities, and the strengthening of productive networks.
A collective effort with real impact
During the volunteer day, more than 700 volunteers mobilized across different cities to support vulnerable communities, improve local spaces, and share knowledge that strengthens financial inclusion and sustainability. Every action, from painting a community area to facilitating workshops, became an opportunity to build collective well-being.
Thanks to partners such as Libertat and Fundación Catalina Muñoz, the program brought together:
- 700+ committed volunteers
- 19 cities connected by one purpose
- Thousands of young people and entrepreneurs gaining tools to make better financial decisions
All through play: 5 custom-designed board games that turned financial concepts into something simple, approachable, and engaging. And to top it off: an AI-powered financial assistant that continues supporting learning in a personalized way.
A project made real after months of work, ideas, and passion.
Thank you to Fundación Bancolombia, to the more than 700 volunteers who poured their hearts into every action, and to every partner who made this experience possible.
