L’Oréal Citizen Day: record volunteering for real social impact in Spain and Portugal

For four years now, at Volies, we have had the honor of co-creating, organizing and coordinating L’Oréal’s #CitizenDay. A unique event that goes far beyond a volunteer day: it is a powerful stage where the company’s social commitment is reinforced, promoting inclusion and generating opportunities to build a fairer and more sustainable future.

This year, however, has been truly special. All records of participation in the cluster in Spain and Portugal have been broken, reaching the incredible figure of more than 650 volunteers.

In Madrid, the focus was on the regeneration of urban spaces and the promotion of community participation in the San Cristobal neighborhood. The interventions carried out brought the environment to life: creation of artistic murals, rehabilitation of the skate park, assembly of hygiene kits, robotics and prosthesis manufacturing workshops, as well as support for women in vulnerable situations to prepare for job interviews.

At the same time, in the #DistritoDeVillaverde, activities were carried out to adapt spaces, individual sessions to prepare for job interviews with women in vulnerable situations, adaptation and painting of the playground together with people with disabilities, and the creation of 3D prostheses for people with physical disabilities.

Meanwhile, in Lisbon, the day focused on assembling essential sun protection kits for families in vulnerable situations.

This special day, full of impact, solidarity and humanity, would not have been possible without the social entities that, once again, have been strategic and essential allies for the realization of each of the actions. Our most sincere thanks to: Fundación Tomillo, Creática, AFANDICE, Programa ECyS, Ayúdame3D and ENTRAJUDA – Apoio a Instituições de Solidariedade, as well as to the #DistritoDeVillaverde for their valuable support.

We would also like to recognize and thank Fundación FDI, for their commitment, professionalism and constant accompaniment before, during and after the day. Special mention to Elena Pérez, for her commitment and dedication.

Heartfelt thanks to my colleague Paula Sequeira, who has led with love and effort the Citizen Day in Portugal, and also to Juan Ángel, María Jesús, María Ledi and Marta Cela, for their presence and unconditional support on D-Day.

And, of course, infinite thanks to the great Cristina Vaquero, for inviting me to be part of this exciting journey. Without you, L’Oréal Citizen Day would have no soul. Thank you for all that we have experienced… and for all that we have yet to experience.

And last but not least, thanks to Alessandro Ruva, for your know-how, your positive energy, and your constant commitment. The success of this Citizen Day is also thanks to you.

Congratulations to all the L’Oréal volunteers: thank you for your humanity, for your dedication, and for leaving an indelible mark. Not only have you transformed a neighborhood with color and beauty, but you have made a real impact on the hearts of those who live in San Cristobal.
