On June 6, the ‘International Telefónica Volunteer Day’ #DIVT25 was celebrated, a day on which our partner Fundación Telefónica, together with nearly 20,000 volunteers and more than a hundred social organizations, showcased their efforts to promote social and digital inclusion, using technology as a tool to achieve it.
During the event at Distrito Telefónica, the group’s headquarters in Madrid, the Company President, Marc Murtra, as well as the CEO, Emilio Gayo, were able to witness firsthand the significance of this occasion which, for the entire team involved in the corporate volunteering program, is a date that reinforces Telefónica’s commitment to ensuring that no one is left behind.
At this year’s event, more than 300 solidarity activities were carried out, highlighting the daily work of volunteers to reduce social and digital vulnerability in various groups.

In Spain alone, around 7,200 Telefónica volunteers participated alongside more than 80 social organizations, reaching an estimated 80,000 people. A total of 166 activities were carried out to promote social and digital inclusion throughout the country. Among the highlights:
For older adults, RECONECTADOS workshops focused on digital literacy and video games, used as tools to maintain cognitive, mental, and social health.
- For primary school children, computational thinking workshops.
- For secondary school and high school students, AI workshops held at the 42 programming campuses.
- For people with disabilities, among other initiatives, volunteers helped build 3D prostheses.
- In Valencia, 5 activities were organized in response to the effects of the DANA (torrential rains).
At the iconic Telefónica building on Gran Vía (Madrid), both the Fundación Telefónica Space and Movistar Space hosted visits from young people and vulnerable groups. In addition, almost 100 Movistar stores across Spain joined in with an awareness campaign promoting the safe and responsible use of technology.
Environmental issues also featured in some of the activities, such as waste collection efforts to support environmental care and maintenance. The 42 Madrid programming campus was the venue for a concert by Rock A La Par, a music band made up of young people with disabilities.
Voluntare's partners actively participate in the DIVT

For the first time this year at Distrito Telefónica, around 20 companies and organizations that are part of Voluntare, the most important Spanish-speaking corporate volunteering network worldwide, took part in a feedback session aimed at strengthening one of the key aspects for developing successful partnerships between companies and social entities: the effective communication of the value proposition.
Digital inclusion to create a more human world
At Fundación Telefónica, they help make our world more human by promoting digital inclusion, working to address four major challenges:
Reducing the educational gap
Improving employability
Fostering social and digital integration
Promoting art, culture, and critical thinking
They anticipate the opportunities and challenges of digitalization while safeguarding digital rights, and develop free training programs to support people throughout their lives: educating children on digital skills and responsible technology use, training young people and adults to access digital professions, and digitally empowering older adults to ensure no one is left behind.
