UPS is dedicated to fostering stronger communities through active employee volunteerism. In 2023, UPS employees contributed over 1.9 million volunteer hours globally, with more than 342,000 hours focused on underserved Black communities.
In February 2024, the company reached its goal of 1 million volunteer hours dedicated to disadvantaged African-American communities, almost a year ahead of schedule.
The company facilitated over 2,000 volunteer events across 61 countries via the UPS Community Connections platform. Notable initiatives included dedicating over 96,000 hours to Special Olympics athletes worldwide and assembling over 4,500 feminine hygiene kits during Women’s History Month for distribution to shelters and nonprofits in low-income areas.
Support to Families in Cologne
In collaboration with Arche, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of disadvantaged children and families in Germany, UPS conducted a volunteer activity with a direct impact, bringing joy and encouragement to children who need it most.
Arche works to help children and young people discover their potential, nurture their talents and empower them to build independent lives. It also visits families during major celebrations to deliver gifts, learn about their living conditions and identify urgent needs.
During this impactful day, 36 UPS volunteers dedicated their time and energy to preparing these gift bags, making sure they were filled with meaningful items tailored to the children’s needs.
More than just a gesture, these bags symbolized caring, solidarity and a reminder that no family faces its challenges alone.
Thanks to this initiative, more than 65 children and their families received a small but meaningful source of relief and happiness.
