On June 7, 2024 was celebrated the ‘International Telefónica Volunteers Day’, a day in which Fundación Telefónica makes visible the enormous work and commitment of its volunteers and the role of technology as a tool to promote social and digital inclusion.
In addition, this year, it is included as one of the main activities of the company’s centenary.
The event has been celebrated simultaneously in 27 different countries together with 259 social entities through more than 1,250 activities to reduce the social and digital vulnerability of people in vulnerable situations.
Among them are:
- The RECONNECTED workshops on digitalization and AI with senior citizens.
- Computational thinking with primary school children with ProFuturo
ICT training for all with young people with intellectual disabilities. - AI workshops for ESO and Bachillerato students at the 42 programming campuses in Madrid, Urduliz (Bizkaia), Barcelona and Malaga.
- Visits to exhibitions at Espacio Fundación Telefónica with young people and groups in vulnerable situations.
- Telephone accompaniment for people in situations of loneliness.
Environmental activities for waste collection. - Or construction of 3D prostheses for people with disabilities, among others.
During this edition, more than 21,000 Telefónica volunteers have participated, of which around 8,000 have done so in Spain.
In total, it will have an impact on more than 220,000 people from different groups in vulnerable situations.
