In 2013, I began this journey with Voluntariado y Estrategia, now Volies, as a personal project to promote corporate volunteering. At that time, it was still in its infancy in Spain, and to a lesser extent, in Europe.
For more than a decade, we have contributed to the evolution and maturity of corporate volunteering in Spain, Latin America, and Europe. We have positioned Volies as one of the main players in linking companies and social organizations to generate positive social transformation through the commitment of employees within their corporations.
Today, this movement still has much to contribute, but our social enterprise has evolved alongside society and global trends toward a new dimension: a broader and more current concept of social transformation, introducing new forms of involvement, mainly of employees, but also of other stakeholders such as customers and suppliers, in corporate commitment.
Diversity management, purposeful communication, new forms of social participation, and the activation of Generation Z around social causes are some of the new areas of impact that we have been developing.
But we can also be proud that we have traveled this path with a strong commitment to communities and the environment and deeply rooted ethical values. For more than 10 years, we have been faithful to the Principles of the Global Compact and the Sustainable Development Goals. We reaffirm this commitment every year.
We took another step forward in our commitment in 2023 when we became one of the 300 B Corp companies in Spain. In addition to certification that guarantees our compliance with high ethical and environmental standards, B Corp is a philosophy of doing business. It is a way of seeing and being in the world. It is a way of leading with purpose that reflects that commitment to change. A community of 9,500 companies around the world that want to be not only the best companies IN the world, but the best companies FOR the world.
The impact of volunteering
Every company we work with adopts practices that improve their internal culture, strengthen their social responsibility, minimize negative impacts, and foster a more inclusive environment and better relationships with local communities.
In the last year:
- We have worked with around 90 companies in more than 40 countries.
- Carrying out more than 1,000 activities.
- In which there have been more than 43,000 volunteer participations.
- Benefiting more than 294,000 people.
- Together with our more than 400 NGO partners around the world.
