Faulcombridge Cup Valencia
Sports events with social impact
Mission
This innovative social initiative seeks to transform tennis tournaments into events with social impact, creating transformative experiences and a bond with the community beyond sport.¿How did we do it?
To do this, we created a collaboration model with the Faulcombridge Cup in Valencia, the city’s premier tennis tournament, and identified with them the groups and causes they wanted to impact: the elderly and those affected by the DANA. We designed three unique events, taking the tournament to a nursing home and one of the most affected towns, Catarroja, and screened our documentary La Voluntad sobre la DANA (The Will to Overcome the DANA) in the fan zone during the tournament. For International Older Persons Day, we celebrated Pachanguitas, the most emotional match of the entire tournament, at a Savia residential center. It was a surprise match featuring the director of the cup and former tennis player Pablo Andújar, tournament player Sergi Fita, and Spanish Senior Champions Antonio López and Paco Revert, which filled the lives of the residents and their families with life and excitement for a while. But we also wanted to take advantage of the magic of this match to record a video and launch a campaign for this special day. The piece stands out for its surprising storytelling, with a tone that is both fun and authentic, placing older people in the space and role they deserve in our society.
The other event in Catarroja was Street Tennis, creating another collaborative network with the Catarroja City Council and the Valencian Community Tennis Federation. The initiative was born as a gesture of emotional and community reconstruction on the first anniversary of the DANA.
During the day, several tennis courts were set up in the middle of the street, where more than fifty children from Catarroja participated in games, activities, and matches. There were gifts, raffles for tickets to the Cup, and a festive atmosphere that made the day an unforgettable experience for neighbors and families.
Finally, during the tournament, we screened our documentary La Voluntad (The Will) to commemorate the anniversary of the DANA, sharing a very special moment through a discussion with the protagonists of the short film and the audience attending the tournament.
Outcome
This social program allowed the Faulcombridge Cup to stand out as one of the first sports tournaments with a social impact in Spain, generating legitimacy in the region and a bond with its community, and as a result, an increase in its reputation, visibility, and interest from the media, stakeholders, and sponsors.
