Voluntary action has the power to transform environments and bonds, to bring us closer to each other, and to remind us that every gesture, no matter how small, can add up to the common good.
At Volies, we have the privilege of supporting and promoting initiatives such as the Environmental Volunteer Days from Autopistas y Túnels, which in 2025 have been an inspiring example of collective commitment, responsibility and sustainability.
This year, nearly 200 people from Autopistas, a subsidiary of Abertis in Spain, and Túnels decided to dedicate time and energy to improving our natural environment and supporting valuable social projects.
They did so in different activities carried out between May 20 and June 19, in six different locations, with the support of expert organizations such a Fundación CRAM, Fundación Kilian Jornet, Enriquezarte & Iberozoa.
The activities benefited natural environments in Bilbao, Logroño, Segovia, Sitges, Barcelona and Cadí. Thanks to this collaboration between Autopistas and these entities, concrete impacts were achieved:
- 50 shelters created for biodiversity: nest boxes, pollinator hotels and shelters for mammals.
- Restoration of 90 meters of trails to improve accessibility for more than 5,000 hikers per year.
- Three awareness-raising actions on marine biodiversity, with more than 70 people trained as active allies.
- A day dedicated to erosion and heat protection in a social space managed with permaculture principles.
Along with these results, the volunteers’ opinions reveal a clear message: volunteering generates pride of belonging, connection and meaning.
For Autopistas, a subsidiary of Abertis in Spain, the “Committed” program represents its vocation to work for a more sustainable society.
With this program they seek to promote the social and environmental commitment of the people who are part of Autopistas and the link with the communities in which they are integrated.
